Over the weekend of July 14th and 15th most of ABC’s sponsored boxers competed at north-eastern boxing events.
First up, was Joe Maphosa and Bobby Dalton who both boxed at the Rainton Arena in Houghton-le-Spring on Friday 14th July. Joe Maphosa secured a draw over a very tough opponent, whilst Bobby Dalton won comfortably over 6 rounds.
Then, on Saturday 15th July, Tom Summerbell won his 3rd professional fight at the Vertu Motors Arena, Newcastle, followed by Troy Williamson who, following his first fight since elbow surgery, also had a decisive win over six rounds.
Win, lose or draw, the beauty of sport is that by staying in the game, you have another chance to react and respond to whatever happens.
Character and reflection are so important, as is using both positive and negative experiences as fuel to drive you on to be better. A massive well done to all the boxers who always show great courage and character no matter what adversity they face.
