On September 10th, six ABC members: Emma Hewling, Stu Race, Abel Selmes, Dan Steer, Jessica Walker and Jonny Waters were amongst the 60,000 runners to complete the Great North Run.

They all had their own individual reasons for running the gruelling 13.1 miles from Newcastle to South Shields.

Emma Hewling, raising money for Cancer Research, was running her 10th GNR (!) and says she is now retiring from this particular race.

Stu Race ran for Diabetes UK in memory of his dad, Angus, who passed away earlier this year.  Dan Steer was also running for the same charity.

Meanwhile, Jonny Waters ran to raise money for the Teesside Hospice in memory of his late mam, Trish, who passed away after a brief battle with cancer in 2021.

For Jess and Abel, this was their first ever GNR.  Jess said about the event: “The most amazing experience spent with the most encouraging group of people.  Loved it.  Absolutely over the moon for us all.”
