The past couple of months have seen victories for a number of boxers who carry out their strength and conditioning training at ABC.

The first bout took place on 18th March with Tom Hill flying to Dubai to fight Ireland’s No.1 boxer, Rohan Date.  Tom won the closely contested fight over eight rounds and even put the Irish contender down in the 6th round.   Tom hopes to fight again in June or July.

The following day on 19th March, Ryszard Lewicki fought at the Hilton, Newcastle against a tough Russian opponent, Mamedov. Ryszard was able to force a knock out in the final round after demonstrating superior strength and endurance over the Russian.  His next fight is on 30th April in Bolton against a Croatian opponent.

Then, on 25th March, Joe Maphosa fought against French opponent, Santiago San Eusebio at the Newcastle Utilita Arena.  Joe comfortably won over six rounds.  His next fight (hopefully for a title) is looking likely to be July 10th in Sunderland.

On the same evening, Troy Williamson defended his British title for the first time.  He became champion on October 9th 2021 after winning a brutal 10th round KO against Ted Cheeseman – a bout that has become a Fight of the Year contender!  This first defence of the British title at Newcastle saw Troy defeat Mason Cartwright, winning by unanimous decision over 12 rounds, in front of a packed arena.   Troy hopes to be back fighting in late July/early August, headlining a massive show in Newcastle.

Saturday April 2nd saw Luke Cope return to the ring after having three years out.  He was given the opportunity to fight at Newcastle Arena on Savannah Marshall’s undercard and grabbed the chance with both hands.  Despite catching a sickness bug the night before the fight, Luke finished the job that he set out to do and defeated opponent Lee Connelly in a four-round fight.  He hopes to be fighting again around July.
