In 2020, Ruth was diagnosed with a Meningioma, an inoperable, benign brain tumour, located close to her optic nerve.   Thankfully, she has not yet experienced any negative side effects from the tumour and continues to work over 20 hours a week at Morrisons, Teesside Park as a Customer Assistant.  I’m sure if you regularly visit this particular Morrisons, you’ll definitely know Ruth!

In February 2025, 77 year-old Ruth, decided to complete a challenge to raise money for Cancer/Brain Tumour Research.  The challenge involved completing 10,000 steps per day for 28 days.

Although Ruth continues to be active, attending the lunchtime classes at ABC and regularly attending the 7am Fat Blast Camps, she underwent a carpal tunnel operation during the challenge which meant she completed many of the daily challenges following fitness videos on her TV! With the support of family, friends and colleagues, Ruth raised a fantastic total of £1020 for her charity.
