The second official ABC Arrows event took place this month with 13 members of the ABC community taking part in the Run Nation Dalton Park races, despite terrible weather conditions.

Jamie Robertson, Becca Race and Dan Steer braved the 10k race.  Jamie did amazingly well coming 9th out of a field of 71 runners with a great time of 47:07.  Becca came 4th in her age category and achieved her 10k PB whilst Dan Steer managed to complete the race 10 minutes faster than his targeted time.

When it came to the 5K race, it was brilliant to see so many members of the ABC community entering their first ever running event.  Emma Hewling ran with her son Evan, and although Emma is a seasoned runner having entered lots of races from 5ks to marathons, this was Evan’s first official race.  Other first-timers were Stu Race, Hannah Race and Louise Webb.   Despite the cold and the rain, everyone made it over the finish line to claim their medal and cereal bar!

Finally, there was an opportunity for those under the age of 11 to take part in the 2k Santa Dash so it was great to see Helen Willers and Gemma Peregrine run with their children.  Helen’s son, Toby and Gemma’s daughter, Thea were absolute stars and ‘stormed’ through to the finish line to collect their well-deserved selection box.  Well done to Helen and Gemma too for being such great role models for their children and running alongside them.

It is wonderful to see the ABC Arrows grow in numbers with just 6 people taking part in the Crimdon Dene 10k in October and an incredible 13 attending this race.  Really looking forward to seeing this aspect of the ABC community grow from strength to strength.
